# Building `2.3.3-unfoldedtools.8`

## Requirements

- Node.js 22.18 or newer
- npm with access to the public npm registry

## Build and stage

From the unfolded.tools project root:

```bash
node remote-simulator/tools/build-web-configurator-2.3.3.mjs
```

The command:

1. verifies the untouched official archive and modified-source archive checksums;
2. runs `npm ci` in the modified source tree;
3. builds `2.3.3-unfoldedtools.8` with a relative Vite base;
4. injects the Remote Simulator session assets after Vite compilation;
5. validates the replacement backgrounds, Material Symbols payload, licensing notices, and absence of `logo-dark.svg` and Font Awesome runtime assets;
6. stages the result under `remote-simulator/web-configurator/`;
7. copies the same immutable build into `remote-simulator/uc-virtual-remote/web-configurator/`; and
8. writes source-build and deployed SHA-256 manifests.

The source comparison at `/remote-simulator/licensing/diff` does not require an upstream production build. It compares the published source trees directly, avoiding misleading counts caused by Vite content-hashed filenames.

Use `--skip-install` only when the modified source tree already has the correct `node_modules`. Use `--keep-node-modules` to retain dependencies after a successful build.
